Now that the EU funding era has ended for fDROP with the UK’s exit via BREXIT, we tend to focus on qualitative research, systematic-type narrative reviews and producing clinical guidelines.
Each Key Associate Member brings with them an area of important research in diabetes of older people, particularly in relation to the management of this often complex disease state, to the influence of frailty and sarcopaenia, to the role of obesity and cardiovascular disease, and to the emergence of a growing interest in type 1 diabetes. These and other topics will be added to the website during the rest of 2026. The scan of recent publications of each member gives strong evidence to enhanced research activity emanating from fDROP-related members.
Research we carry out aims to meet the objectives within our ‘Mission’. For example, in collaboration with members of the International Geriatric Diabetes Society (IGDS), we contributed to developing the themes of a research strategy in the area of diabetes and older people.
